Jenni Moyer

First Grade Teacher

Mrs. Jenni Moyer grew up in the middle of the Sunshine State, right between Disney World and the beach. In spite of that, she went to college at The University of Mississippi in the heart of the Deep South and hasn’t looked back since. At Ole Miss she worked toward a B.A. in English, came to Christ through the ministry of Reformed University Fellowship, and met her husband, Dean. Later, she earned a Master’s degree in English at The University of Alabama, where she held a teaching position and had the opportunity to teach freshman composition and sophomore literature courses.

After graduation, Mrs. Moyer taught composition classes at St. Louis Community College and Maryville University in St. Louis for several years until both her older boys were born and she had her most rewarding job yet: stay at home mama. While substitute teaching at Artios Academy in Nashville in 2004, Mrs. Moyer felt a powerful call from the Lord to return to teaching, this time embracing the smallest pupils. She has been the first grade teacher at The Classical Academy since its founding and absolutely loves spending her days reading stories, making crafts, singing songs, creating chants, and dreaming up new math games for her first grade friends.

One of Mrs. Moyer’s greatest joys is seeing how her older sons, Hal and Wilson, have benefited from their classical education and training in Christian worldview and is thankful that her youngest son, Davis, is following in their footsteps. She loves reading fiction and history, home decorating, taking walks with Dean as well as dreaming about going to the beach and Disney. Mrs. Moyer is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Green Hills. Her lifetime verse is Philippians 1:6:  “…he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
