I moved back to my hometown of Franklin with my wife, Jennifer, and our two little boys in 2002, a few years before our youngest son was born. But the vaunted Williamson County Schools system I attended from 1 st grade at Grassland Elementary through graduation at Brentwood High had ceased to be a great option for the children of Christian parents.
Fortunately, the kind of Classical Christian education that Jennifer and I had long admired in theory became a reality for our family when the Sensing family launched Artios Academy. Not only were we blessed with an irresistible opportunity to enroll our young boys as charter students, but Jennifer began teaching there in the school’s inaugural year.
Our two older sons were so well served by their Classical Christian education (and their stellar mom) that they each became National Merit Scholars and received full four-year university scholarships. And our youngest, now in the Rhetoric phase of the Trivium, has thrived as a TCA student since kindergarten.
I’m usually busy working on barcode+RFID solutions, a rare disease tech start-up, the ministries of Covenant Pres in Green Hills, or TCA stuff. Otherwise, if it involves some combination of the Reformed faith, time with old friends or making new ones, conservative politics, great tunes, or a stogie, count me in!
