Our Mission Statement
Our Students
The principal objective at our school is to train young men and women to think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding; who reason persuasively and articulate precisely; who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in light of the Scriptures, and who do so with eagerness in joyful submission to God. We desire our students to recognize cultural influences in the light of Scripture, and not to be swayed or tempted towards evil by their culture. We hope, by God’s grace, to raise up young men and women who are zealous for truth, hungry for goodness and sensitive to beauty.
In keeping with these principal objectives, it is first and foremost our desire that each young person know and love the Lord Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul and mind, and that they love their neighbor as themselves. Accordingly, we desire that all the students at our school have a heart for the lost and that they possess both the knowledge and the courage to seek to dissuade those who are stumbling towards destruction.
It is also our desire to find these girls and boys well-prepared in all situations in life, possessing both information as well as the knowledge and wisdom to use it well. We aim that they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious, possessed of a spirit of boldness tempered with a spirit of true humility and thankfulness before God, equipped with an understanding and mastery of the tools of learning, desiring to grow in understanding, yet fully realizing the limitations and foolishness of the wisdom of this world. We also strive to equip them with the knowledge to distinguish true religion from that which is religion in form only.
Our Curriculum
In addition to our adoption of the Trivium as the framework for our curriculum, and the incorporation of classical language studies and formal logic, another unique aspect of our vision is the emphasis we desire to place on the arts and humanities: history, literature, music, drama and the visual arts. It is our intent to emphasize these, not to the detriment or neglect of the sciences, but rather out of a desire to restore a proper balance between them, a balance which in times past was considered essential to “the good life,” a life lived in rich enjoyment of God and full embrace of the gifts He gives to His creatures, all for His own glory.
Our Staff
We aim to cultivate within our staff the same qualities as in our students, and to see them well compensated so that they may make a career at our school. We desire them to be professional and diligent in their work, gifted in teaching, loving their students and their subjects. We also desire that they clearly understand the principles and structure of classical education, how it works in their classroom, and how their work fits into the broader context of the school. Further, we desire that they possess a lifelong hunger to learn and grow, and that they have opportunity to be refreshed and renewed. We also desire to see them guide and nurture new staff and to serve as academic mentors to students. Finally, we look to see them mature in Christ, growing in their knowledge and love of God, having their own family members walking with the Lord.
Our Parents
We desire to cultivate within our parents a sense of responsibility for the school and to see them well-informed about the goals of our classical and Christ-centered approach. We desire them to grow with the school, involved in and excited about the journey. We aim to help them follow Biblical principles in addressing concerns, to be inclined to hearing both sides of a story before rendering a verdict and to embrace the Scriptures’ injunctions to encourage and stir up one another to love and good works.
Our Witness in the Community
Finally, in our relationship with our community, we aim to be above reproach in our business dealings and supportive of the local business community. We further seek to exemplify the unity of the body of Christ, to develop greater fellowship and understanding with the churches and to bring honor to our Lord in all our endeavors.
