Terri Bowden

Fifth and Sixth Grade Teacher

Mrs. Terri Bowden graduated from Hiram College in 1983 with a B.A. in Religion and  from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1988 with a Masters of Religious Education. She married her husband, Jeff, in 1987 while they were in Seminary. They have been married for 30 years and have two sons, Michael and Josh.

She and her husband were introduced to classical Christian education when their oldest son, Michael, was beginning kindergarten. They were attracted to the curriculum’s developmentally appropriate emphasis on a Godly environment. After much prayer, they decided she would apply for a teaching position at Hickory Christian Academy in Hickory, North Carolina. She and Michael began their adventure in 1994; he in Kindergarten and she in 1st Grade!

She has had the privilege of serving in several different classical Christian schools and of being mentored by many Godly, knowledgeable teachers over a period of 18 years. After teaching at Paideia for 11 years, her family relocated to Nashville where God blessed her with The Classical Academy. Both she and her husband consider teaching to be her calling and she strives to help her students find their true worth in Christ in the place between Psalm 139:14 and Romans 3:23. She counts herself fortunate to stand beside parents as they raise their children in the “nurture and admonishment of the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 11:18-21)
