Statement on Marriage and Gender

As a Christian school, The Classical Academy of Franklin firmly believes that marriage is the lifelong union of a man and a woman. Marriage is instituted by God and is a picture of the unity and communion of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), the nature of Jesus Christ, who is at the same time both completely human and completely divine, and the nature of His Church with Christ as the head and true believers as the body. Both God’s created order in procreation and the words of Holy Scripture are the standards used to govern sexual activity. Intimate sexual activity is only permissible inside marriage and only between the man and the woman in that union. All other sexual activity is considered sin and is forbidden to be openly practiced or promoted at The Classical Academy. The Classical Academy believes that sex is a God-given blessing for the purpose of having children and for sealing the union of marriage. Acts of adultery, fornication, homosexuality, or any other sexual perversion must be repented of and turned away from. Therefore, anyone who openly supports, participates in, or promotes these sinful practices in anyway will be asked to repent and come into conformity to the Scriptures. If they choose not to repent and conform, they will be required to withdraw from The Classical Academy.  (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19; Lev. 18; Rom. 1:26-29; Rom. 7:2; I Cor. 5:1-2; 6:9; I Cor. 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23; I Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)

We also believe that Gender is not neutral and that God created male and female. We believe that all mankind has a nature of sin and that this nature leads to all kinds of confusion and perversion of God’s created order. However, we believe children are born either male or female and are required to learn how to behave appropriately according to the gender that God gave them. We are to be thankful and honor the blessings God has given to us, including our gender.
