Company: The Classical Academy of Franklin
Reports to: Headmaster
Department: BLOOM Prek

The Classical Academy of Franklin (TCA) Overview
The principal objective at TCA is to train young men and women to think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding; who reason persuasively and articulate precisely; who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in light of the Scriptures, and who do so with eagerness in joyful submission to God. We desire our students to recognize cultural influences in the light of Scripture, and not to be swayed or tempted towards evil by their culture. We hope, by God’s grace, to raise up young men and women who are zealous for truth, hungry for goodness and sensitive to beauty.

Position Overview
The main focus of our PreK Teacher is to train our youngest learners in the way of Christ and to learn how to balance social skills with academic excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate love for children in his/her past and align with TCA’s mission and values. There will be some creative latitude within the PreK teacher role, as we are transitioning to a hybrid model – a mix of Montessori and Classical curriculum and activities. Because of this unique situation, it would be ideal for the PreK teacher to begin training immediately, so he/she could begin training with the new curriculum and other leaders.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for co-leading the new curriculum planning, activities and execution in the classroom
  • Complete responsibility over the preschool class for the day – teaching, discipline, feedback, academic learning and fun!
  • Hours for this role will be flexible and may include participation in our AfterCare Program from 3:30-5. This may include some creative development of simple activities for the kids as well as supervising a quiet homework environment and some outside playtime.

Qualifications/Personality Profile:

  • Required: must be 21 or older
  • A proven track record of successful teaching/assisting positions and/or equivalent experience
  • Teaching certificate preferred, but not required
  • Experience teaching in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required
  • Must possess and demonstrate a love for children
    • Must have a strong commitment to your Christian faith and show joy in your daily walk with Christ
    • High level of consistent communication, discipline and follow-through
    • Exceptional customer service, relationship building and communication skills with staff, administration, parents and students
  • Must be energetic and have a can-do, positive attitude
